Carve Out some Fun

This tutorial was written for those that have knowledge of PSP.

 

Tutorial written with PSP X2 but should work in any version of PSP

 

Supplies Needed:

PSP

Tubes of Choice

I used the artwork of Scott Blair

You must purchase a license to use his work.

Pay to use Scrap Kit: A Witches Tale

Scrap kit by: Cora @ Coras Creations

Tag Template by:  Missy @ Divine Intentions

Template used: 209 you can find it HERE

Mask: HERE

 

Plugins Used all are optional:

Eyecandy 4000 Gradient Glow

 

Font of Choice

I used:

Halloween_Argentine

Grouser

 

Lest Get Started:

 

Open the template

 

Shift+D to duplicate image

Close the original

 

Delete the copyright layer

 

Image>Canvas Size

With these settings:

Close off all the layers except the white background layer

Flood fill the extra areas white as well.

We will work our way up!

 

Open up cc-pp-05

Copy and paste as a new layer

 

Layers>Load/Save mask>Load Mask from disk

 

Choose the mask supplied

Halloween mask 4

 

With these settings:

Right click on the layer

Merge>Merge Group

 

Open the circle layer

 

Make sure the grouped layer is selected

Click on the pick tool

You want to shame it so you can’t see any of the words around the top

the bottom is okay because your other things will hide them

 

It should look something like this:

Close off your circle layer we will get back to that

 

Open thin rectangle1 layer

 

Open cc-pp-02 from the kit

Copy and paste as a new layer

 

Click back on the thin rectangle1 layer

 

Selections>Select All

Selections>Float

Selections>Defloat

 

Click on the paper we just pasted

Selections>Invert

Hit the delete key on your keyboard

 

Selections>Invert

Go back to the thin rectangle1 layer

 

Selections>Modify>Expand

With these settings

Flood Fill with black

 

Selections>Select None

 

Click on the layer we made with the paper

 

Right click>Merge>Merge Down

 

Open thin rectangle2 layer

 

Selections>Select All

Selections>Float

Selections>Defloat

 

Create a new raster layer

Flood fill with #ffb94f

 

Go back to the thin rectangle2 layer

 

Selections>Modify>Expand

With these settings

Flood Fill with black

 

Selections>Select None

 

Select the orange layer again

 

Effects>Plugins>Penta>Dot and Cross

With these settings

Right click on the layer Merge>Merge Down

 

Open thin rectangle3 layer

 

Selections>Select All

Selections>Float

Selections>Defloat

 

Create a new raster layer

Flood fill with #ffb94f

 

Go back to the thin rectangle3 layer

 

Selections>Modify>Expand

With these settings

Flood Fill with black

 

Selections>Select None

 

Select the orange layer again

 

Effects>Plugins>Penta>Dot and Cross

With these settings

Right click on the layer Merge>Merge Down

 

It should look something like this now:

Open the circle layer

 

Selections>Select All

Selections>Float

Selections>Defloat

 

Create a new raster layer

 

Set your Background color as: #f79429

And your foreground color as: #7d498e

 

Go to Gradients and choose

Foreground background gradient (included with psp)

Use these settings:

Flood Fill your new layer with it

 

Selections>Select None

 

Delete the original circle layer

 

Rename your layer circle

 

Should look something like this now

Open the dotted circle layer

 

Click on your Elipse tool and draw out a circle about the same size

 

Take your text tool… I use the font

Halloween_Argentine

 

Go over the edge of the circle until you see the text tool with a curve under it

That will let us write on the curve

 

I wrote Carve Out Some Fun

You will have to play with it as you would like and repeat as you like

 

It should look something like this

Don’t worry if you have gaps or it a little off because

the tube and elements will cover it

 

Open cc-glitter-splat

Copy and paste as a new layer

With these settings

Your tag should look something like this

Open both the rectangle1 and rectangle2 layers

 

Click on the rectangle2 layer

 

Open cc-pp-04 from the kit

Copy and paste as a new layer

 

Click back on the thin rectangle1 layer

 

Selections>Select All

Selections>Float

Selections>Defloat

 

Click on the paper we just pasted

Selections>Invert

Hit the delete key on your keyboard

Selections>Select None

 

Should look something like this now

Open cc-spiderweb-curtian

 

Copy and paste as a new layer

 

Image>Free Rotate

With these settings

Click on rectangle2 layer

 

Selections>Select All

Selections>Float

Selections>Defloat

 

Click on the spider web layer

Selections>Invert

Hit delete on your keyboard

Selections>Select None

 

Tag should look something like this

Open your tube

 

Resize if needed and position where you would like

 

Effects>Plugins>Eyecandy 4000>Gradient Glow

With these settings

Use the background color we used earlier

 

It should look something like this now

Open cc-candle-lights

Copy and paste as a new layer

Position to the right of your tag

Drag the layer below your tube once placed

 

Should look like this

Open cc-witch-bottle-01

Copy and paste as a new layer

Open cc-black-cat

Copy and paste as a new layer

Same settings only use white for the color

 

Add copyright and your text apply same shadow as cat to text.

 

Close off the bottom white layer

And save as a .png
